This prominent church, located in Prague’s Royal Vinohrady district, was built between 1928 and 1932, embodying a unique blend of faith, modern architectural language, and historical references. Plečnik’s revolutionary concept—a spacious hall without the traditional division into a nave and chancel—offers an entirely new interpretation of sacred space, tailored for the modern individual.

The virtual tour takes you into the church’s interior, as well as its monumental tower and bell tower, where you can discover the stunning circular window with a diameter of 7.5 meters and admire details referencing the royal majesty of Christ. The history of the construction is rich and captivating—from the cornerstone blessed in 1928, through architectural innovations and construction challenges, to the solemn consecration in 1932.

The tour will also guide you through the crypt and other hidden spaces, where Plečnik’s meticulous attention to detail and his fusion of history with modernity leave a lasting impression. A new altar designed by Josef Pleskot, installed in 2018, further enhances the church’s liturgical space and symbolically becomes its new heart.
